5/9/13: Style Spot: Fine and Dandy Shop

image

Thursday

Even with its humble beginnings as an online store, the experience when you walk into the Fine and Dandy Shop on 49th Street between 9th and 10th avenues is anything but virtual. Nestled down a small flight of stairs, this gem of a store is a time machine taking you back to an era where the men dressed up, the jazz was hot, and heirlooms where born. However, there’s nothing old or dusty about the products on sale at this curio corner; every item is handmade here in the US or curated from one of the shop’s trusted sources. What was most striking to me was the attention to detail. Every product in every nook and cranny had been artful displayed and correctly labeled. This may seem the norm, but as someone who’s spent some time working retail, it was incredibly refreshing to see that not a detail was left unattended. What is also exciting is that the items are so incredibly versatile:

For the suit-wearing businessman - an accessories wonderland complete with silk ties, pocket squares and more.

The vintage loving dandy - spats, tie bars and suspenders galore.

The modern American Gent - chambray bandanas with neon piping, fun colored laces to switch out with your kicks, cocktail books, steel flasks, watches and camo bowties.

With something for everyone, the Fine and Dandy Shop is the perfect place to personalize your wardrobe and up your style game from average joe to stand out gent. So check out the store, or visit their spot online…
